Metal vs. Nonmetal restorations:
Metals have been used in dentistry for thousands of years as found in ancient Egypt ruins. Medicine has used them to replace hard tissue when this has been damaged. This has only happened due to the fact humanity has not been able to duplicate God's amazing work, though incessantly we continue trying, and has looked into nature for hard tissue replacements when needed and, voila!, there were metals by the dozens to be found.

The problem is hard human tissue is organic (alive and evolving) whereas metals are inorganic (not alive and incapable of evolving). Aside, and as important, metals have much different electromagnetic characteristics than organic tissue, which in dentistry causes a myriad of problems in our oral cavity which is bathed by saliva full of electrolytes.

Nowadays thanks to that incessant research many nonmetallic alternatives exist that will not present the electromagnetic challenge to our bodies, look more natural and will last a very long time, once again, depending on the patient's oral hygiene, nutritional habits and stress management. If a restoration is needed your body will probably be better served with a nonmetallic material.

Waterlase Header
Waterlase Header In combination with an air/water spray, the Waterlase HydroKinetic YSGG dental laser is able to replace the dreaded SHOT in many instances. Since there is no heat or vibration from the Waterlase, the need for anesthetic (THE SHOT) is eliminated in most cases! Pain free dentistry is here! Waterlase® YSGG technology uses a patented and unique combination of laser energy and water to gently and precisely remove dental decay with no shot, no drill, and no pain in most cases.
What is Waterlase technology? WaterlaseŽ YSGG technology uses a patented and unique combination of laser energy and water to gently and precisely remove dental decay with no shot, no drill, and no pain in most cases. Is the laser safe? In the hands of your trained dentist, the WaterlaseŽ is as safe as other medical devices. With its 2 mm active range from the tip, the laser provides pinpoint accuracy, reducing the chance of causing damage to healthy tissues. The primary safety measure necessary during laser treatment is proper protective glasses.

Waterlase vs. the standard drill

The high speed dental drill may cause a smear layer, a layer of dead organic material. The WaterlaseŽ creates cuts with NO smear layer, providing a better surface for bonding, and allowing your filling to last longer.

What can Waterlase be used for?
  • Decay Removal
  • Cavity Preparation
  • Complete Root Canal procedures
  • Bone procedures
  • Reshape "gummy" smiles
  • General soft tissue procedures
  • General dentistry for enamel and dentin
  • Avoid being "numbed"
  • Avoid the shot and pain

Invisalign
Invisaling:
This technique is fairly new in dentistry and involves repositioning your teeth
in its arch using a plastic envelope (similar to a night guard) over the teeth
to be worn all the time, except when eating, and replaced with a new one
every two weeks for a period of time that will vary depending on the severity
of the movement to be done. Not all orthodontic movement can be performed
with this method but when possible it offers a more comfortable and esthetic
kind of treatment for those who prefer not to have braces put on. Aligners,
as the plastic envelope is called, are transparent and much less notable than
braces.
